CINT RESEARCH FACILITIES

The CINT user community has access to multiple, national research capabilities including the CORE Facility in Albuquerque, NM and the Gateway Facility in Los Alamos, NM.

CINT researchers may also access select non-CINT capabilities at Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories on a limited basis. Joint proposals involving nearby national user facilities, including the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory are encouraged.

Collectively, these facilities provide laboratory and office space for researchers to synthesize and characterize nanostructured materials, theoretically model and simulate their performance, and integrate nanoscale materials into larger-scale systems in a flexible, clean-room environment.

 

CINT FACILITIES

Core Facility at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque
Core
The 96,000 square foot CORE facility features low vibration for sensitive characterization, chemical and biological synthesis labs, a clean room for device integration, interaction areas and conference rooms, visitor office space, and high-speed communications.

Gateway Facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory
Gateway Facility
The CINT Gateway Facility brings together materials science and bioscience capabilities. The 36,500 square foot laboratory and office building complex features approximately 11,000 square feet of laboratory space for synthesis, characterization, fabrication, and advanced computation.

LABORATORY FOR ULTRAFAST MATERIALS AND OPTICAL SCIENCE (LUMOS)

The LUMOS Team at CINT seeks to understand and control the interaction of photons with materials’ electronic, spin, and structural behavior on the ultrafast time scale for missions of national security.

The LUMOS facility is equipped with ultrafast laser systems covering a broad spectral range that spans the far-infrared to the soft X-ray portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. These systems enable a multitude of ultrafast spectroscopic and imaging experiments, including optical-pump terahertz-probe spectroscopy, high harmonic generation extreme ultraviolet spectroscopies, and scanning probe imaging and spectroscopies. We work closely with the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies to study and develop novel materials for a wide range of applications.lumos-logo-transparent.png
