CINT 4th User Workshop
January 12-13, 2006

The Workshop will be dedicated to the memory of
Dr. Richard E. Smalley
incredible scientist, great supporter of nanoscience, and founding member of the CINT Governance Board.

The DOE Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies invites you to attend its 4th User Workshop on January 12-13, 2006, in Albuquerque, NM. The workshop is open to the public; advance registration is encouraged. Please note the early registration requirements (see below) if you wish to participate in the tour of the new CINT Core Facility building.

The Agenda will include:

  • Plenary speakers - James Heath, California Institute of Technology
                              - Keith Schwab, National Security Agency, University of Maryland
  • User Science talks from “jump-start” projects
  • Capabilities Expo by CINT Scientists
  • CINT Science Vision
  • CINT Discovery Platforms™ update
  • Launch of the User Executive Committee organization
  • Tour of the new CINT Core Facility in Albuquerque, NM

The Workshop is an opportunity for the nanoscience community to become involved in CINT as well as to shape its future. This Workshop marks our transition to full user operations. Attendees will learn about the newly completed CINT Core Facility and CINT Gateway to Los Alamos Facility and research results from CINT Users currently at Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories. A plenary speaker will lead off each day of the workshop to discuss new results and current challenges in nanoscience integration. A highlight of the workshop will be an expanded CINT Exposition at which the CINT Scientists will present posters on their research expertise and associated CINT capabilities that are available to the User community. This will enable prospective users to discuss their ideas for User Proposals one-on-one with the CINT Scientists. We will also report on progress on the initial set of CINT Discovery Platforms™, modular micro/nano devices designed specifically for nanoscience integration research, and convene working groups to discuss beta testing and new platform ideas.
